Default New to zeo just getting started

Hi everyone , looking to get my new Red Sea reefer 250 into zeo . Been running for 3 months with no fish or corals
1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter (65 US gallons )
2. Net water volume (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter (guessing around 60 gallons)
3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technique (cal reactor)
4. Are you using a PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.) (no)
5. Are you using Ozone (no)
6. Are you using UV (no)
7. What skimmer are you using (type, rated water volume) (Eshopps x120 g4 rated for 90 gallons )
8. What are your actual PO4 and NO3 levels ( P04 .09 N03 5)
9. What are your actual Ca, Alk and Mg levels ( Ca450 ALK 8 Mg 1400)
10. What filtration method do you use (refugium, DSB, Miracle Mud, etc.) none
11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.) (orphek Atlantik v1 5 years old)
12. What corals do you keep (sps/lps)
13. Tissue color (light or dark) (will transfer from different tank after zeo is running )
14. How long has the tank been running (3 months )
15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system (lfs has amazing colors and growth using it)
16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.) none
17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.) (real reef 20lbs branch 15lbs shelf)
18. Any present problems
19. Problem description (tissue loss tips, tissue loss base, diatom bloom, algae, etc.)
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.) (Red Sea/ Hanna all new)
21. Present dosing, amounts and intervals (ZEOvit, ZEObak, ZEOfood, ZEOstart, ZEOspur2, etc.)
22. Other water parameters and water stability (salinity, temp, etc.) ( 1.026 78F )
23. Which salt brand do you use ( Red Sea )

Just looking for some general guide lines to get started. I will have the reactor up and running shortly .
Thanks ~ Adam

Hello Adam,

If there are no fish and corals in the tank, then we can
Korallenzucht's initial 14-day cycle

60 US gallons of clean water = 0.75 liters of ZeoVit material

Now you can start adding ZEObak, ZEOstart and Sponge Power.

ZEObak: 5 ml per 100 liters / 25 US gallons
ZEOstart: 10 ml per 100 liters / 25 US gallons
Sponge powder: 3 ml per 100 liters / 25 US gallons

Day 2 and Day 3

Dosing a rest.

Day 4:

It is recommended to use ZEObak, ZEOstart and Sponge Power daily according to the product label until the 14th day:

ZeoBac 1 drop / 100 liters / 25 US gallons
Sponge powder 1 drop / 100 liters / 25 US gallons
ZeoStart 0.1 ml / 100 liters / 25 US gallons 2 x daily

Day 4-10:

Different algae stages can occur, such as some brown mucoal algae, followed by some healthy green algae. The same dose as described on day 4 above was used. Check the salinity carefully.

Day 10:

The first herbivore fish (up to 2 per 200 liters) can be added, as well as sea urchins and turbine snails. You should also be able to add the first insensitive coral, such as the branch Montipora. Add activated carbon now.

Activated carbon:
Once the first batch of animals is placed in the system, add activated carbon as recommended: 0.5-1 liter per 1000 liters. Replacement intervals are 30 days.

Day 11-14

The dose stated on day 4 was maintained. Carefully test carbonate hardness and salinity. If the basic water parameters are within the recommended range, more corals can now be added to the system. Additional fish can be added but should be very slow. Fish feeding must also be carried out with great care at this stage, as the biology is not very stable at this stage. Do not add more than 1-2 fish per week to 250 liters per week. After another 4 weeks, you can add the remaining fish, which are planned for the system.

Starting on day 14:

ZeoBac 1 drop / 100 liters / 25 US gallons 2-3 times a week
Sponge powder 1 drop / 100 liters / 25 US gallons
ZeoStart 0.1 ml / 100 liters / 25 US gallons 2 x daily

Hello Adam, for a net water volume of 60 US gallons use 0.6 liters ZeoVit with a reactor flow of ~ 60 US gallons per hour.

As Jacky has posted already you can cycle the system as a fresh system as it does not contain animals at the moment.
