Hello Bob677,

The FAQ at the top of the page also allows you to view a lot of resources. You also need to fill in the relevant information about the tank to get a better understanding of your information.

Korallenzucht's initial 14-day cycle

Day 0:

Install a suitable seawater tank, install the sink, install the necessary PVC pipe, and ensure that the glue has enough time to dry!

Day 1:

Water
Fill the system with reverse osmosis water and, if possible, use the RO unit with filter resin as the final stage. Heat the water to 20-25 C and install a current pump at the same time.

2. Currently
We recommend using a smooth and wide flow rate of approximately 20-30 times the tank volume per hour. Also recognized is the combination with Osci-Motion - they create a very natural shifting flow thanks to the rotary pump.

3. Sea salt
Once the water temperature is around 25 C, the salt is slowly added to the water and the salinity is about 34% o. Once the salt is completely dissolved and the water is clear, live rock can be added.

Living stone
It is very important to use fresh and bright live rock. 10% of the tank's contents are brought into the tank after you bring the live rock in the tank. The next one is the sand bed. At this point the oil skimmer is started with the ZEOvit filter and the fuel tank needs to be lit!

5. Sand bed
Now you can add a shallow sand bed. Use crushed coral sand or aragonite. Do not use Live Sand with the ZEOvit system. Soak the material in reverse osmosis water for 3-4 days before use and replace the permeate water daily. If the PO4 level of the water is close to zero, sand is ideal.

6. Start the ZEOvit filter and separator
The water tank capacity of 400 liters per liter (100 US gallons) uses 1 liter of ZEOvit. Do not exceed the flow rate of 1 liter per liter of ZEOvit 400 liters per hour (100 US gallons) filter. Make sure to run the reactor at continuous flow. Start your protein separator.

7. Lighting and other technical equipment
Start lighting to minimize. 10 hours a day. Start all other technical devices immediately.

8. Dose
Now you can start adding ZEObak, ZEOstart and Sponge Power.

ZEObak: 5 ml per 100 liters / 25 US gallons
ZEOstart: 10 ml per 100 liters / 25 US gallons
Sponge powder: 3 ml per 100 liters / 25 US gallons

Day 2 and Day 3

Dosing a rest.

Day 4:

Recommended daily use of ZEObak, ZEOstart and Sponge Power per product label until day 14:

ZeoBac 1 drop / 100 liters / 25 US gallons
Sponge powder 1 drop / 100 liters / 25 US gallons
ZeoStart 0.1 ml / 100 liters / 25 US gallons 2 x daily

Day 4-10:

Different algae stages can occur, such as some brown mucoal algae, followed by some healthy green algae. The same dose as described on day 4 above was used. Check the salinity carefully.

Day 10:

The first herbivore fish (up to 2 per 200 liters) can be added, as well as sea urchins and turbine snails. You should also be able to add the first insensitive coral, such as the branch Montipora. Add activated carbon now.

Activated carbon:
Once the first batch of animals is placed in the system, add activated carbon as recommended: 0.5-1 liter per 1000 liters. Replacement intervals are 30 days.

Day 11-14

The dose stated on day 4 was maintained. Carefully test carbonate hardness and salinity. If the basic water parameters are within the recommended range, more corals can now be added to the system. Additional fish can be added but should be very slow. At this stage, fish feeding must also be carried out with great care because the biology is not very stable at this stage. Do not add more than 1-2 fish per week to 250 liters per week.

Starting on day 14:

ZeoBac 1 drop / 100 liters / 25 US gallons 2-3 x per week
sponge
powder

The dose requirements are ultimately adjusted based on the tank, parameters or the general appearance of the coral.

Thanks for the answer. I fell asleep aragonite sand KZ. I set up a return pump, and launched a skimmer, Light 10 hours AI Hydra 24 HD. There is a pump but in the future I plan to put Vortech 10 QD.
My crankcase is too small and I cannot install a zeolite reactor as I need ..... so I myself made the old filter. Stones so far very little nov will add them in the near future.

It is my pleasure, the most important thing is to use some quality Live rock, this will be a great choice. I look forward to your completion so prepare the project, open a beautiful tank and enjoy it. Don't forget to fill in the tank related information again (sticky tell us your tank)

Maybe a custom made reactor is a possibility, you can find some ideas over here:

Do you have animals like fish already in the system ?

The total water volume is very important to calculate the dosage, in your last post the net water volume is higher than the gross water volume, can you please check this ?

I am sorry this is a mistake.
130 liters - total water volume in the system
127.6 - net volume of water in the system

No fish and no snails and crabs

Zeo BioMate is reserved for future additions,
Add some quality live rock and get Zeo Sponge power as soon as possible. Zeo Bio Mate is not currently recommended and the dose is not correct.

ZEObak: 5 ml per 100 liters / 25 US gallons
ZEOstart: 10 ml per 100 liters / 25 US gallons
Sponge powder: 3 ml per 100 liters / 25 US gallons
