How to reduce Nitrates
Hi
I have a stable Zeovit system at the moment and I want to drop the nitrates down.
My PO4 is at 22ppb and I have no problems with this.
If I want to drop the Nitrates down should I increase Zeostart?

Hello, this is the kz tank message, you can start with this, so that G.Alexander can help.
Total water volume of the system (including oil sump, etc.) - US gallons / imperial gallons / liters
2. Water purification (including oil sump, etc.) - US gallons / imperial gallons / liters
3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technology?
You are using the PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.)
Are you using ozone?
Are you using ultraviolet light?
7. What skimmers do you use (model, rated water)
8. What is your actual PO4 and NO3 level?
9. What is your actual Ca, Alk and Mg content?
10. What filtering method do you use (refugium, DSB, Miracle Mud, etc.)
11. Type of light (watt, color temperature, how big, etc.)
What coral do you keep?
13. Tissue color (light or dark)
14. How long has the tank been running?
15. Why use the ZEOvit system?
16. Any supplemental dose (type, quantity, cause, etc.)
17. Live rock (how much, how big, etc.)
18. Any existing issues
19. Description of the problem (deletion of tissue, tissue loss basis, algae, algae, etc.)
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.)
21. Current dose, quantity and interval (ZEOvit, ZEObak, ZEOfood, ZEOstart, ZEOspur2, etc.)
22. Other water parameters and water stability (salinity, temperature, etc.)
23. Which salt brand do you use?

SPS
13. Tissue color (light or dark)
Colours look ok at the moment
Slightly darker than usual
14. How long has the tank been running
2 years, and started conversion a 12 months ago
Rocks look clean and no algae at all.
I have mulum deposits on them
15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system
Improve colors

Coral vitalizer - 36 drops every 3 days
17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.)
I started with dead rock aand now these are very clean and pristine
18. Any present problems
No major issues
Colors are a bit dull
Polyp extension is ok
19. Problem description (tissue loss tips, tissue loss base, diatom bloom, algae, etc.)
Increased NO3 leading to darkening of colours
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.)
Red Sea and Hanna
I verify result using TRITON
21. Present dosing, amounts and intervals (ZEOvit, ZEObak, ZEOfood, ZEOstart, ZEOspur2, etc.)

It seems that you are experienced.
Determine the amount of zeolite & flow level, confirm whether the ro/di is good, and fix the water change 10% per week to refresh the balance and vacuum the sludge.
Adjust the skimmer to be damp.
Kz activated carbon. ribbing a few times a day
Since you are transferring the system, it may take a while depending on the length of the original system.
You can change the bak, start3, and sponge power doses to 10 days per day.
you can put more relevant pictures of tank including sump.
If you are familiar with the product, they can also help, coral snow, bio mate.
Waiting for G.Alexander

Start 3? What should I does sail in ml?
Sponge power 10 drops per day
Please confirm

Start3 early/night, bak&sp every day for 10 days, we still listen to G.Alexander's suggestion, it is a professional at the top of the pyramid

Can you please tell us something more about the fish load and the quantity of food you add to the system ?

I feed twice a day
Bit of Nori (about 10 cm x 10 cm) piece at mid day
And about 6 cubes of brine shrimp (1.5 cm x 1.5 cm each) in the afternoon
I have 12 fish
4 tangs that are about 150 cm each
And 5 yellow tangs that are about 8 cm
The others are hawk fish and gobies
The system works well at the moment, but my sand turns but brown during the week and I syphone and clean the gravel.
My Nitrates are keeping my coral tissue a bit dark from what I can observe
Thanks for your help

Thank you, some change I would recommend:
Zeobak 18 drops every other day
Zeostart 1.8 ml 2 x daily
Zeofood – stop dosing it at the moment
Sponge Power 18 drops daily
Coral Vitalizer – stop dosing it at the moment
Please also check the flow through your ZeoVit reactor by measuring it. Collect the water from the outlet for 30 seconds with a separate container and multiply its volume by 120. This will give you the exact output per hour. Use 4.5 liters ZeoVit in the reactor.
Vacuum your sand bed while each water change for a while to remove the sediment from the deeper sand layers.
Adjust your skimmer to skim wet to export as much as possible and clean it daily.
Do you use any kind of mechanical filtration material like sponges etc ? If so I recommend to remove it. If you use filter socks clean them every other day.
Please update in about 2 weeks.
G.Alexander

Thanks
My flow rate through the reactors is 1000 l per hour
I have two reactors with equal amount of Zeolite
No filter socks or wool
I will chew he the dosing and keep you posted

One more question
I currently dose bio mate 36 drops every third day (twice a week)
Should I continue with that?
My PO4 is at 20 ppb
My NO3 is at 16 ppm

2 drops / 100 liters 2 x weekly is what I have dosed usually even if nutrients where not detectable however if you like to you can try to reduce the dosage to 1 drop / 100 liters 2 x weekly while monitoring PO4 and NO3, both should not increase.
