Default Deep Blue Shallow 30 Cube

Hello -

I have a 30 gal 24x24x12 Deep Blue shallow cube. I formerly had a marineland 60 but one of the seams went bad and downsized to the 30 on July 12, 2015. This tank has been running zeo the entire time but I used some old rock from prior setups.

It is a mixed reef. I hope you enjoy my journey.

Thank you.

I have begun adding Aquavitro Balance to help with low PH. (closed windows most of the year).

For supplements I am using Aquavitro 8.4 for Alk and Calcification for Calcium

I have an old bottle of Seachem Reef MG that I'm using for MG dosing.

I seem to be getting a decent amount of growth on some corals. Color improving in a SPS Brown - Red and Green highlights.

Seem to be stuck at .08 PO4.

Ca 420
Alk 8.12 DKH
MG 1200
PH 7.8-8.0
I think the balance is increasing the alk.

NO3 is .25 - .5 PPM Hard to tell with my Red Sea Kit - reagents turn purple while the color wheel is pink.

PO4 .04-.10 tough to tell with the Red Sea Kit and the hanna is not accurate enough.

Added a new coral seems to be doing well good but not great PE for a mille.

Am dosing Booster and FWS to ease its transition. I realize my alk is high so I'm backing off the balance dosing.

Been dosing 1.5 ML of CB and FWS mixed daily. CB shows notaceable improvement in acans which are more puffy.

ALK 7.6
CA 420
MG 1200

PO4 - .06 Red Sea Pro .05-.03 Hanna. Either way this is a step in the right direction.

Noticing new growth on 2 SPS and improved color on one more red and green tinge. Pokerstart Monti is blue on edges but brown in center.

Should I order Spur 2?

I would recommend to wait with ZeoSpur2 until the system runs nutrient poor stabile with a PO4 range of 0.00 – 0.02 mg, than you can use ZeoSpur2 to “FineTune” coloration.

Took the plunge on ordering a larger sump and skimmer from lifereef. As far as the sump its nothing crazy but will house the new venturi skimmer.

Skipped the H2O change this weekend due to an injury. Knew I was approaching 5 weeks to stone change. Sure enough PO4 is up to .07-.06. Prepping 1/3 of a bag of zeovit stones to get in ASAP.

Picked up a yellow and red (2 colony 1 frag) digi and a new gorg.

Did a 5g water change and stone change.

Forgot to plug the heater back in. Tank is at 75.8 degrees thankfully it was a mild night.
