Default General help!

I was running zeovit for about 1-1.5 years and everything was great except growth. With the unplanned passing of my father I fell way behind on maintenance and then 2 months later a freak accident happened and caused the loss of my grandfather. Needless to say I did nothing with my tank except feed the fish. Left the reactor running and stones in it for a good 6-8 months. Within the past 2 months I'm starting to straighten everything out. I did a complete overhaul on my tank. I have several sps corals that survived my carelessness. What would be a good dosing regimen to add or take away from my schedule? Most sps corals look decent and a few a little brown. I understand I just need to give it time. I just want to be on the right track. Thank you for your kind help.

Really sorry to hear about the looses, hope you will feel better soon.

Lets continue dosing as follows as long as your corals are getting lighter tissue slowly:

bak 8 drops twice a week except for the continuous 10 day dosing after stone change
-SP 8 drops every other day
-Food7 – stop dosing
-BM 16 drops 2 x weekly
- CC 16 drops 3 times a week( just got over cyano and want to keep away)
-ZZ 1 spoon 1-2 times a week
-BB 5ml 2 times a week
-xtra – stop dosing
-CS 10-20ml 2 times a week
-CV 10 drops 2-3 times a week
-Macroelements – stop dosing
-acropower – stop dosing

Additional add 0.6 ml ZeoStart 2 x daily.

I would expect that the algae will slowly decrease from the change, if this is happening you can slowly increase ZeoStart to 0.8 ml 2 x daily.

The coloration elements can be used later if corals are getting lighter tissue and start to grow again.

Please also check the K+ level of your system, should be ~ 380 mg.

Also do a weekly water change once a week of 15 – 20% for some time.

Thank you G. Alexander
The K+ level is 400 and I do ~20% changes every week. I will follow your recommended dosing schedule for some time and let you know how it goes. Much appreciated.

I just noticed today that 2 sps are stn'ing. I tested again today. Parameters are all the same. 1.026/35ppt, Dkh 7.3-7.6, Cal 500, Mag 1500, K+ 400, 0 Po4, 2-5 No3. I got new Red Sea salt today after testing my fresh saltwater and found these high numbers excluding dkh. Please advice what to do, if anything. Thank you.

Lets try to temporary decrease the reactor flow to 130 – 150 US gallons per hour to see if the TN does stop.

It seems to have stop G. Thank you. Since I had to lower it I believe my nutrients will begin to rise? When shall I turn it back up or maybe turn it up a little at a time spread over a few weeks/month? Thank you for your help again.

Usually nutrients are slowly increase with the lower flow but this is not for sure. I would recommend to increase the flow step by step slowly again if problems are fixed.

G. Alexander, I've been dosing your above recommendation for the past month now and have got my reactor flow back up to 275gph. my corals look really good. 2 sos are light but the rest are dark. They are growing decently. What would be your recommendation on dosing now? Continue as is or should I introduce another product? I have a few products but if you recommend something that I don't have e I will get it. Thank you for all of your help.

Alk-7, Cal-440, Mag-1320, K+ 390, No3-0, Po4-.02, 20% water changes weekly with Red Sea blue bucket at 33ppt

Difficult to say as most products are dosed depending to the look of the corals. Are you pleased with growth and coloration or do you like to change anything ? Maybe some pictures are helpful also.
