Default Battles won over GHA share your victory

If you have beat hair algae in your tank can you please share how you did it.

My tank is looking pretty bad right now. I have even gotten rid of a fish to try and starve it out.

I've been using algae x but at fifteen treatments to get it under control I stopped using it after the 5 dose.

I now have a bottle of API algae fix coming next week.

I've pulled out as much as I could but not all of it comes out.

I've taken the reds down to 15% and the intensity down to 60%

After removing my foxface the skimmer seemed to pull out alot more. My reef octupus waste collector was full this morning and the skimmer was off
It could have just been because I had to remove some rock and I disturbed everything to get him out

just use good quality live rock, i remember that pic from your other post, even if you control the algae the aip infestation is really far gone and controlling it would be a mision in itself, for the amount of rock in there ig start again with a really good quality rock, you will be rid of the algae and all the aips.

Some of the algae is on the coral plates. No real way of getting off. Plus the the corals are attached to the rock I don't have a saw.

FM algae X is not really good against green hair algae. It works against brown algae better and they say is good against Dino. Is not easy to get rid of GHA but there is something that you could have done to prevent it from growing on your rocks.
Each time before I do a water change I use a powerhead in my hand (maxi-jet 900) and I blow everything off from the rocks and underneath the corals. There is a lot of sediment builds up in the little holes especially if you rocks are very porous. If you leave it there sooner or later may cause problems like algae growing on the rocks.
So far it worked pretty well for me.

You just need to exhaust the phosphate that is leaching from the rocks.
It took me a few months but it died off eventually.

My battle over GHA has been going very well. However my phosphate levels are still a little high (.03-.11 depending on the day). I am using GFO but want to switch to All in One Biopellets. What do you think?
