Question Help starting Zeovit 100liter tank

Hey Everyone

This is my first post so please be easy on the new guy lol
I currently have a few tanks up and running quite successfully with red sea and gfo nutrient reduction techniques etc but i have a test tank 100 liters that im willing to try zeovit with. This will be the deciding factor on whether or not my new build 100gallon+ will be run with zeovit or carbon dosing and gfo.

My 100 liter tank

Has currently been running 6 months started from one of my established tanks water so cycling phase was almost un noticeable, i run currently gfo for phosphates, nopox for controlling nitrates when required, filter sock 200 micron, tunze protein skimmer, auto top off and dosing pump with alk, cal and mag keeping levels as followed

pottasium 400
temp 24 degrees
salinity 1.025
nitrates :2ppm
mag 1380ppm
cal 420ppm
alk 8
phosphates 0.03 if not 0 (lanthunum chloride dose when raises before changing gfo)
carbon change every month
water change religiously every sunday 20%

stocking is
2 clown fish
2 corkscrew anenomes
20 sps frags rainbow monti, motis, acros etc

I have currently bought zeolite starter pack along with spongepower and amino acids auto elements tablets

can someone advise me on how to start the conversion and what i should be dosing (schedule) and mention anything i should be looking out for (algae blooms, coral blkeach etc)

I have done the following for day 1

removed gfo reactor, and stopped all nopox dosing

added in zeovit reactor 250mls zeolite (recomends 1 liter for 400 liter saltwater)
added 2.5mls Zeobak
added Zeostart 5mls
added spongepower 1.5mls

this is half the recommended dosage by zeovit as i was advised to take it slowly? i am on the same day so if anyone recommends adding more so that it matches the full zeovit recommendations i can stil do so? please advise

i have also stored the zeobak in thefridge correct?

Hi Jay

Please post some more details, this will make it especially later more easy to help having all the necessary information in one post:

http://www.zeovit.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14

I am still unsure about a dosing recommendation as I am not sure about the correct net water volume of your system which is the base for the dosing quantities.

Also removing all the PO4 absorber and stop dosing nopox abrupt is not ideal as this will increase the nutrients as the zeovit system needs some time to get working.

The dosage you have done is also just for tanks without live stock, hopefully this will not cause issues in the next couple of days.

thanks alex

1. total volume including sump is 100 liters
3. no calcium reator only dose calcium 2 part
4. Was using gfo reactor up until few hours ago
5. No ozone
6. No UV
7. Tunze protein skimmer 9002 running past 6 months moved from existing tank
8. P04 is 0.03 at highest 0 at lowest 90% time
9. Mag 1380, cal 420 and alk 8
10. Filter sock 200 micron, protein skimmer, carbon dosing 5ml per day and gfo reactor, religious water changes 20% red sea coral pro salt
11. kessil 160we tuna blue for 10 hours per day
12. Sps acropora, monti etc
13. Tissue color is varied, some brown and some bright, all with healthy polyp extension
14. Tank running 6 months or more
15. Want to use zeovit to see if corals can all be raised to same bright color as some of the others, seem to get mixed results in diferent corals, testing it out to decide if new tank build with all massive quantities will run zeovit
17. 1kg live rock but also 1 liter of seachem de nitrate media in sump loose
18. couple sps corals are brown but that was before being in this tank, they are coloring up with polyp extension but taking a bit long eg 3months plus, have dipped and all pest free
20. Use red sea mag, nitrate, amonia, potassium, iron. Hanna checker for ultra low range phosphorus, calcium and alk
21. prior to today dosing amounts were 5ml daily nopox and alk, cal, mag
21.today added in zeovit reactor 250mls zeolite (recomends 1 liter for 400 liter saltwater)
added 2.5mls Zeobak
added Zeostart 5mls
added spongepower 1.5mls
22. Salinity always 1.025, temp 24 degrees
23. red sea coral pro salt or just red sea standard

does this help alex thanks for the heads up on standard format

Net water volume should be about 80 liters so I would recommend to continue as follows:

ZeoBac – 1 drop daily until day 14, than 1 drop 2 x weekly
ZeoStart – 0.08 ml 2 x daily
SpongePower – 1 drop daily

Run 0.2 liters ZeoVit with a water flow of ~ 80 liters per hour, reactor 3 hour on / off interval

I as you have removed the PO4 absorber yesterday I would recommend to add 50% of the quantity you have used again, than reduce it step by step to zero over the next 4 weeks. Also continue to dose 1/3 of the quantity you have dosed before from the nopox product, also reduce the quantity step by step to zero over the next 4 weeks.

Water changes 10 – 15% weekly.
