Hello Franco, lets start with 2.5 m 2 x daily (morning / evening) for one week, than do another test. A level of ~ 380 mg works very well.

Hi Alexander and thank you for the direction.
Just to be sure, for my 270 Lites net Tank:

2.5 ml + 2.5 ml = 5 ml/day of K-Balance Standard for a Week.
Correct ?

Another question:
I've noted from a couple of weeks few areas with a slight formation of green algae. Can be considered as normal ?

Best

Franco

2.5 ml is the correct amount for your system size. To increase the level you can dose more often per day but you need to keep a minimum doing break of 2 hours between the additions.

The green slime algae are common if amino acids are overdosed with products like AAHC, XTra, ZeoFood etc.

You might vacuum them out while a water change.

Hi Alexander.
Thank you for the clarification for what concern the K-Balance.

For the slime green algae, please note I've never user amino based products in my tank.

I'm using Zeobak (with Zeovit in reactor), Zeostart 3 and now the K-balance only dosed following your direction

Best

Hi Alexander.

I'm providing the K-balance but I whish to understand the K consumption during the week at the same time.

I followed several KZ Threads and seems that Potassium consuption can depends on the Skimmer work ( I have a Deltec APF800. It's a dual-pump: One feeding pump and one skimming pump with needle wheel impeller ).

What do you think about it ? There is a skimmer tune that can helps ? There is a Skimmer brand you suggest for the Zeovit method ?

Another question:
I have the KZ Sponge Power here. Can I use it one or two days/week to feed my softy ?

I will post my parameters very soon.

Thank you

Franco

Hello Franco, on my old system I had running a overrated needle wheel skimmer and I always had a low K+ level if I have not regular dosed K-Balance. After switching to a skimmer without a needle wheel (ventury system) this problem has gone completely. A common reason for a lower K+ level can also the salt mix be as some contain to less of this element so with every water change the level gets reduced.

You can dose 1 drops SpongePower / 100 liters every other day additional, it does have a positive side effect to the biology.

Hi Alexander and thank you for your answer.

IMHO, I'm falling in the case you mentioned (overrated needle wheel skimmer).
The water before the weekly exchange has K+= 400/410 mg.

Can you suggest a venturi based skimmer for my 270 net liters tank ? What about the KZ REVOLUTION S Deluxe ?

Thank you

Franco

Hello Franco, I have just used the korallenzucht skimmer models for my systems so my experience is limited with other skimmers. Personally I was very pleased with the skimmers so the S model would be right size for your system.

Hi Alexander.
I bought the S model directly from KZ. It's on the way
May I have few suggestions for the initial setup and a maintenance guideline in the meantime ?

Thank you

Franco

Nothing special, lets see how it works after you have installed it. Water level ~ 20 cm works well from my experience. Please post a picture if you have adjusted the skimmer. Cleaning the air intake nozzle (you can disassemble it) regular is necessary.

Hi Alexander. The Revolution S is here.

One question: Do I have to mount the recirculating t joint ? I saw images with it and without. Please consider that I have a 270 Liters net tank.

Thank you

Franco
