I have any issue, my reactor is external and has developed a leak. I have to take it off line until I get another one. How long can I do that? Can I run the zeolite in a mesh bag?

I would say you'll be ok just keep them under water. When you get the new reactor running start the zeovit 15 day cycle starting with day 4 until everything gets settled.

I have a Red Sea test kit. It's good. Also I'm voting yes on low alk. I run mine between 6 and 6.5. It's been as low as 5.8 with no negative side effects. When it gets higher than 6.5 I shut off my calcium reactor for 12 hours. My corals grow like a wild fire. I'm pruning my birds nest once a month. When I ran my alk over 7, everything stopped growing. Remember that ZEOvit is there to mimic natural seawater. The alk in the ocean is under 7.

People with higher nutrient systems can run their alk higher. I know BRS runs their sea anemone tank at 10dkh. Running all that high is not good in this system. Keep it in the 6 range and as stable as possible. Good luck!

Hello, I'm waiting on the test kit for potassium to come in. I did add a few more frags to my tank. They are starting to turn pale. My alk is ranging between 7.4 to 7.7 dkh. Is that too much of a swing? My calcium is 424 and Mag 1365. Nitrates undetectable and phosphates are 0.05.

Looks like it's working. You'll probably need to start dosing coral food

Do the other corals you have had in the system before does show the pale coloration also ? Can you post a couple of coral pictures ?

In the 4th pic, the monti cap and digitatawere the original pieces along with a birdsnest. They were put in in March. No much going on with them. The acro in the 3rd pic was a deep purple when I got him about 3.5 weeks ago. The second pic, that coral was green with yellow polyps. They are steady fading to a pastel. The birdsnest is pink but fading as well and no encrusting. The stylo is suppose to be a deep red but it's a pastel pink.

I think the tank is still building up biological processes, the rocks are still very clean so while this time it is difficult to work on coloration as biology is a big factor. The quantity of the corals is minimal so the consumption of the elements is minimal also so you can easy overdose which might cause other issues like algae or cyanos.

My recommendation would be keeping the tank running as it is giving it some time. Might also be time to add the first smaller fish slowly.

What is your dosing regimen at the moment ?

G.Alexander
