RedSea test kits on each

PO4 - .04ppm
NO3 - 12ppm

I tested the flow on the Vertex Zeo reactor. It was at 150gph and I adjusted it until it was 200gph

I have the following products which are all KZ:
Start
Bak
SpongePower
Food
Snow
Zeolite rocks
carbon
LPS Amino
SPS Amino
Pohl K-balance
Iodide
Pohl Coral vitalizer

I was dozing as follows:
.6ml of Start 2x per day
6 drops of SpongePower daily
6 drops of SPS Amino daily
2ml Of LPS Amino daily
6 drops of Bak every other day
4ml Snow daily

I was too fearful to dose more especially since I as haiving clarity problems.

Thank you, for my taste your dosing regimen for amino acids is really high.

I would recommend you to continue as follows:

ZeoBac – 8 drops 2 x weekly
ZeoStart – 0.6 ml 2 x daily just if the PO4 level does not decrease in the next couple of weeks, otherwise 0.8 ml 2 x daily
SpongePower – 8 drops every other day
CoralSnow – 16 ml 2 x weekly

Additional for coloration if your corals tissue has started to become lighter and corals are showing good growth:

AAHC SPS – 4 drops 2 x weekly
AA LPS – 4 ml 2 x weekly
CoralVitalizer – 8 drops 2 x weekly
K-Balance – as much to keep the level @ ~ 380 mg

In the next couple of weeks dosing XTra might make sense also.

Excellent. i will keep you updated.

I will keep this thread updated. Your help has been invaluable. Truly thank you.

I forgot to mention I have BioMate and Coral Booster as well. I didn't use them much either.

Is this XTra Special or Xtra Concentrate? These are the only ones offered on BulkReefSupply website.
What's the recommended dosage on it?

I was referring to:

https://www.korallen-zucht.de/en/Sal...archparam=xtra

You can start with 4 ml 2 x weekly.

Hi GAlexander

The water clarity has improved significantly. Thank you. However, I still have significant green film forming on the walls, rocks, and sand.

I currently dose .8mL of Start at 0900 and another .8mL again at 1700. I dose 8 drops of Bak on Mon and Thursday. Should I increase the Start dose?

Thoughts?

Here is my dosing schedule:

Zeo Start - 0.8 mL at 0900 and again at 1700 every day
Sponge Power - 8 drops on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Xtra - 4mL on Monday and Thursday
Coral Vitalizer - 8 drops on Monday and Thursday
K-Balance - 4 drops on Monday and Thursday
Bak - 8 drops Tuesday and Friday
LPS - 2mL on Tuesday and Friday
SPS - 4 drops Tuesday and Friday
Iodide - 4 drops Tuesday and Friday
Coral Snow - 16mL Tuesday and Friday

NO3 is about 3ppm
PO4 is about 0.10ppm

While nutrients are elevated the green film you describe is common however it also can have something to do with the dosing. I would surest some smaller changes for the dosage as follows for the next 2 weeks to see if that does create a improvement:

Zeo Start - 0.8 mL at 0900 and again at 1700 every day
Sponge Power - 8 drops on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Xtra – stop dosing it temporary
Coral Vitalizer - 8 drops on Monday and Thursday
K-Balance - 4 drops on Monday and Thursday
Bak - 8 drops Tuesday and Friday
LPS - – stop dosing it temporary
SPS - – stop dosing it temporary
Iodide - 4 drops Tuesday and Friday
Coral Snow - 16mL Tuesday and Friday

ok thanks .. I will let you know.

based on your suggestions, I am stopping the XTRA, LPS, SPS ... no other changes

the green film has spread to the substrate pretty badly and covers the sand within 24 hours of me blowing it off. I will keep you updated.

Thank you for your help. Like I said in my first post, I have been running this system for 1 year and cannot seem to get it dialed in. I've not seen the results that others have. Admittedly, I have had relative success in that I've never had a reef this good. It is just not what I'm aspiring to achieve. The algae is killing me. :/

I am committed to getting it right and appreciate your assistance.

Could you post a picture of that green film/algae?
I think you might have green cyano.

It may be green cyano but it appears to be green bubble algae ... I dont know how to post photos to this website but it is absolutely growing rampantly. I am at my wits end.

Thank you. I have 100% confirmation that they are dinoflagellates. I had another reefer come by. We did some research and also put them under a microscope. Bad dinoflagellates.
