It is common if the curvet is not clean or have some finger prints on it. I do expect your level is already very low, NO3 should also come down over the next couple of weeks slowly but 5 mg is not really a issue.

hey Alexander,

My tank has been set up for 30 days, and seems every thing is getting better now. Phosphate is constant 0.00 by Hanna, and nitrate is around 2-5. Do you think I can dose some products for the coloration now. I attached the pic of my coral here.

Thanks so much.

Beautiful corals you have, are there any products you already have and are there any kind of algae in your system ?

Usually no additional elements are necessary at this stage, the tank is still building up its biology.

Thanks )

Currently I am thinking the same thing, i will give it couple weeks to get stable.

Another question, do you think it is a good time for me to introduce the anthias into my system? I only have 2 small size tangs and 1 small goby.

thanks for any suggestion

Anthias need a lot of food and the tank is still cycling, I would recommend to wait until adding those kind of fish later. At the moment I would not add additional fish, lets see how the corals are doing over the next couple of weeks.

Hey Alexander,

I have a problem with my low potassium, i have dosed the K-b strong for over a week, and seems the level of the potassium is still around 330ppm.

I dose 2ml/per 2 hour, 5-7 times per day, do I need to increase that.

the corals are great so far, one of the acropora's burnt tips have recovered and the lost blue color of the growing tips has come back.

thanks for suggestion

From my experience the KZ skimmers do not remove potassium so the main source of a low level should be your salt mix. With the dosage you have done you should notice a increase of the level so are your sure your test kit is working well ?

hey,

i use the KZ salt, and today i tested the fresh salt water which is only 280 ppm with 1.024 salinity. i use the salifert test, that can measure the change of the level of potassium. i will cross test it with the red sea kit. should i keep dose it?

280 mg is unusual low for the salt, so cross checking makes sense. Please also cross check salinity with different accurate instrument. Lets cut down the K-Balance dosage to 2 ml once or twice per daily until the cross checks are done.

The salinity is 1.024, which is confimed by another test. I'm waiting for the new potassium.

The nitrate climbs to 5-10 ppm, but phosphate stay 0.00 with Hanna test kit. I will observe that more.

Thanks so much.

also, I like to know when I should do the first zeolite change. I have heard the first change should be less than 6 weeks. And should I leave some of the old rocks in the reactor.

If the first 4 weeks have passed replace 90% of the material and dose ZeoBac daily for 10 days again. Another 4 weeks later replace 90% of the material. Further changing intervals are 6 8 weeks (depending to the nutrient concentrations and corals). After each ZeoVit exchange dose ZeoBac daily for 10 days.
