Livestock

This week was a good week!

One of the stores I use took a trip to De Jong Marinelife in the Netherlands, and they came back with one of my all time favourite corals - one that this tank was very much designed around from the start. I had forgotten i'd even asked them to look for one in any of their shipments, as it was going on maybe 5-6 months since I did ask, so it was a great surprise to see it on the list they uploaded! I nearly had to fight him for it!

I give you a very pink Stylophora pistillata...

It has been some time since I've updated my tank thread, and that is mostly due to suffering a few issues with the tank in that time. Mostly, I had an outbreak of dinoflagellates which took me the best part of 3-4 months to be rid of (I hope!), which was followed by a big cyanobacteria outbreak, and now to top it off I have AEFW in the tank.

That being said, things are looking up and the tank is looking the best it has in a good while. I have some STN issues and some corals I suspect are having trouble with AEFW, but on the whole I'm having ok growth and colour on most pieces.

Fish wise I have suffered a few issues where the scopes, regal angel, and clownfish were thought to have either ich or velvet, but i have persevered with feeding well and keeping stress levels down, and it turns out that whatever they had has been overcome. Whether that bites me in the ass later down the line I don't know, but I didn't want to overreact and cause more harm than good.

I have added a few SPS pieces lately which are mostly doing well, and existing corals are slowly getting there. Patience...

Some updated pictures now the tank is moving in a positive direction

I still feel that the coral tissue could be lighter, especially as I’m dosing zeospur, so if anyone has any ideas then I’m all ears.

Thank you.

The last time I tested my results were as follows:

Po4: 0 (Elos HR)
No3: 0.25 (Red Sea Pro) Skimmer was stripped down and cleaned since so it might be lower now.

Maybe Im chasing something I dont need? My colours are nice but they dont seem very Zeo, Im not sure.

Beautiful setup, coral and fish selection and great photography!
Your corals look very healthy, however if you prefer the pastel colors, then pastel colors it is.

Did you notice any considerable changes going from led to T5? Im on the fence switching as well.

Thank you.

They are for the most part healthy now, just always striving for more you know?

Yeah the tank changed quite a bit, I absolutely love my T5s and youd be hard pushed to get me off them now! Growth is great, colour is great, only downside is temperature with the chiller but thats a trade off im ok with.

You might try to dose more B-Balance but to give you a recommendation I need to know the net water volume of your system, can not find it in the thread, sorry.

The beautiful coral tank is very clean in terms of maintenance. It is very hard to take care of. I like the quality of pictures. The picture is very comfortable. I can't wait to see the picture of the corals. I can even imagine the beauty of various beautiful corals interspersed to form a beautiful picture.

You might try to dose 10 ml every other day of B-Balance for 10 days. This should usually lighten the tissue, than you can continue to dose 10 ml 2 – 3 x weekly if it has improved coloration.
