Default Restarting a 120g, recommendations wanted

So as the title states, I am starting from scratch in about 2 months on a 120 gallon. I used zeo before in my 90 gallon, but that was after the tank was established for 2 years. This time around I think it will be better to start zeo right from day one. I'd like to have 1 seeded liverock and the rest being dryrock from scratch.
What else do you recommend? ?????
Also, is there anything special with the cycle?

Would recommend you to use the following method:

http://www.zeovit.com/forums/showpos...60&postcount=7

Please keep in mind that the cycle will take much more time as you do not use 100% live rock. If possible I would recommend to add 20 – 30% good quality live rock additional.

Another question....I really love the BLACK sand, but a friend recommends the dry argonate white sand because it helps buffer calcium. Any thoughts?

I have no experience with the black sand but basically the white sand does reflect the light better so coral swill also receive some reflecting light from the bottom.

Sorry to bring this up again, I'm just looking for a clear answer or any personal experiences. So after debating the black sand or Carib-Sea aggregate, I'm going with the Carib-sea. Question is that all I can find is live sand. Do I want live sand when I'm cycling from day one with Zeovit? Or should I get dry sand so all of the microorganisms can start from scratch. My sand bed will only be 1-1.5" deep. Thanks guys!

Live sand in combination with ZeoVit does cause issues (constant algae / cyanos), I would recommend you to use some kind of a dry material like aragonite.

Currently looking for dry sand in my area. Also have a large order in the mail. Should have water in by next week. At that time I will start cycle and ask more questions to start the zeovit process. I bought zeobak zeostart and zeolite to start the cycle. I will also be using Instant Ocean Reef Crystals for the salt mix. Any other minor suggestions? ??

As long as the salt has adequate concentrations of the main elements including K+ it should be fine but I never used it.

So for preparation, I will fill my 120, plus the sump est 10gal, dry rock and dry sand. I should have salinity at 1.025. Temp about 78. How long should I wait to start dosing, and how much should I dose?
I have a general idea of.....
1st day 30ml zeobak
60ml zeostart
1.5L zeolite
Day 4-14, 6 drops zeobak
.6? Twice a day

Thank for the help, I'm filling with water this weekend

So your system has a net water volume of 100 US gallons which is the basis for the dosage. You start dosing if you have setup everything, it is described in the link I have posted above.

Initial dosage at day 1:

ZeoBac – 20 ml
ZeoStart – 40 ml
SpongePower – 12 ml

Run 1 liter (1 bag) ZeoVit with a constant water flow of 100 US gallons per hour through the reactor.

Continue dosage at day 4:

ZeoBac – 4 drops daily
ZeoStart – 0.4 ml 2 x daily
SpongePower – 4 drops daily

As you use dry rock the cycle will take much longer, just something to keep in mind, the described cycle from the link is done with 100% live rock.

Would you recommend adding 1 seeded rock in with the cycle or not?
How long should I expect this cycle to be?

The cycle with death rocks can take up to a couple of month. If you add 15 – 20% good quality live rock additional the cycle will be shorter but it is difficult to know exactly the time as many factors are involved.

Ok, so I'll look for a few quality pieces at add to the dry rock. Here is my set up, and what can I expect in the first month? Today I just rinsed sand and added 80lbs. Still filling with water.
