Hi Alexander.

Today is my 15th day of the Zeovit System

Here you can find the water parameters (measured today):

Kh = 7.5 / 8.00

Po4 = 0.04 ppm

NO3 < 1 (between 0 and 1 on Nyos Nitrate Test scale)

Ca = 400/410 mg

Mg = 1400 mg

k+= ~ 375

Salinity 35x1000

Water is crystal clear and I'm able to see a sensible Cyano regression

Weekly water changes are now 27 Liters as suggested

Zeovit Reactor still works 3h On/3h Off

What I have to change now ?

1) Zeobak two or three times/week (better 2 or 3 times ?)

2) Zeovit Reactor always on ?

3) Can I help one of my softy (the Sarco in the attached picture) with a KZ product ?

Another question is related to the Zeostart via dosometric pump.

I read the great Christine article so that I decided to buy a dosometric pump. Two possibilities:

1) One doso-pump able to dose 1 ml as minimum (it require Zeostart dilution)

2) One doso-pump able to dose 0.1 ml as minimum

The Zeostart amount you suggested to me is 0.28 in the morning and 0.28 in the evening for a total of 0.56 ml

Using the 1 ml min. pump with 1 : 17 dilution, I will have 1 ml solution with around 0.056 ml of Zeostart (rounded due a periodic result).

In this way I will have to dose 5 ml of solution to feed 0.28 ml of Zeostart two times / day or I can divide the daily solution amount of 10 ml in 3 dose, for example 4ml + 3 ml + 3ml corrisponing to 0.224 ml + 0.168 ml + 0.168 ml of Zeostart.
Hope I'm not in wrong with calculation.

The 0.1 ml min. pump will give to me the possibility to avoid dilution but I can provide, even if divided in more dose, a total of 0.50 ml or 0.60 ml of Zeostart and not 0.58 ml as suggested.

What do you think about it ?

My last question just in case I will go with dilution:

How long the solution can be held in the pump container ? This will help me to define the solution amount to be prepared according to my dosing ratio.

I hope my reply wasn't too long and boring

Best

Strazz

Lets keep the reactor on / off interval until about 2 weeks after the first exchange, than if everything is working well the reactor can be switched to continuous flow.

You can now begin to dose ZeoBac 3 x weekly, and ZeoStart 2x daily. Additional products are not necessary at the moment.

You can also split the ZeoStart dosage over a couple of times per day.

I have always prepared as much ZeoStart as have dosed within about 4 weeks. Than I have refilled the container and put some boiling water in it before sometimes to keep it clean.

Thank you Alexander.

A doubt: Zeostart is already dosed two times/day (0.28ml + 0.28ml). You said "Dose 0.28 ml ZeoStart 2 x daily (morning & evening)". Is this correct ?

In theory, can I spilt each dose in two (for a total of 4 dose /day i.e. 0.14 + 0.14 + 0.14 + 0.14 ml) ?

Best

Hello Franco, 2 x 0.23 ml daily so 0.64 ml total per day. You can split the addition over the day 2 or more times.

Hi Alexander
Sorry but your indication was for 2 x 0.28 ml daily so 0.56 ml total per day for my 270 net Liters tank and this is what I've dosed till today.

I don't understand the 2 x 0.23 ml and why you are referring to an addition.
Thank you for a clarification

Be patient
Best

Franco

Sorry Franco for the confusion, had a phone call while posting.

For a net water volume of 280 liters dose 0.28 ml 2 x daily so 0.56 ml per day.

Hi Alexander.
I've done my first Zeovit change (keeping 10% of old media).

What about the Zeobak ? Do I have to dose it every day (three drops) for the first 10 day and than switch to three drops three times a week ?

Thank youp

Franco

Hi Alexander.

I've completed my 10 days period after the first Zeovit exchange.
Zeolite reactor pump works 24h/day from yesterday evening.

Now Zeobak 3 times/week, Zeostart 2 x 0.28 ml / day

I inserted two SPS cutting (one Caliendrum green and one Guttasus coming from a my friend tank) one week ago.

Here my parameters:

Ca = 450
Mg = 1390
Kh = 7/7.5
No3 = 1
Po4 = 0.02
K+ = 360 (Salifert test)

Salinity = 35x1000

Can you help me to understand if my few Corals need to be feeded (in particular for the softies) or helped in some way with KZ products, please ?

Thank you

Franco

Hello Franco, water parameters looking good, K+ could be a little bit higher ~ 380 mg but it is not a real issue.

Can you please also update the actual PO4 and NO3 level ?

At this stage corals do usually not need any kind of extra feeding.

That is perfect, so no changes are necessary at the moment. The Softcorals often need more time to adopt, you might try to place the closed ones in a area with more flow if they are attached to a lower flow area at the moment.

Hi Alexander.
Today I found the K+ at 340 mg (was 360 mg one week ago).

I have the Pohl's K-balance Potassium Concentrate here. Do I have to start using it ?
The direction on the bottle is 1 ml per 100 Liters daily.

My tank is 270 net Liters so that 2.7 ml daily should be the correct amount.

Thank you for a suggestion on this.

Best

Franco
