Default Help for fresh start Istanbul

Dear All,

First let me introduce myself: Cuneyt Kuyumcu from Istanbul Turkey , I am managing a textile company

I read a lot in forum and memorized the latest guide and will follow FAQ 14 days cycle and will continue however I first need to make sure I have good hardware and setup for successful zeovit sps tank

Tank: 110x60x50 = 310 litres 12mm ultra clear
Sump:60x55x40 = 132 litres

First question is with sump it has one big compartment only should I add another compartment for separating Skimmer and Zeolite Reactor ?

Tank and stand ordered below equipment and components is not bought yet but if experts agree I will collect them quickly.

Skimmer: BK Double Cone 180 or 200
Light: 8x39 Ati sun power bulbs not decided
Return pump: Jebao Dct 4000 (should I go for 8.000?)
Wave pump: 1xMP40 QD and 1xQCP 9
Zeovit reactor:
Carbon media reactor or bag
4 channel dosing pump (probably jebao)
300w heater
ATO
RO : 5 segment 0 tds
Rock: enough Fiji branch (will be cured so just one day before or same day I will take them from aquarium market , ok?)
Sand: 2-4 argonit ( I will get tank and RO 2 weeks later , do I really need to let sand wait 2 weeks in RO water that will add 2 more weeks for my installation)

Do I need any other components it’s better to tell me now like PO4 or CA KH reactor now?

And very critical question: In Turkey it is very difficult to find reactor zeovit and additives is it possible to be shipped to Istanbul ?

Thank you for your answers and happy reefing

Hi Cuneyt

Here you can find a step by step guide for the cycle:

http://zeovit.com/forums/showpost.ph...60&postcount=7

Usually you can place the skimmer and the zeovit reactor in the same sump camber, just make sure the skimmer is sitting before the reactor. While the flow is from the skimmer to the reactor the dosed additives should not be skimmed immediately. A second camber is fine also.

Personally my recommendation is to use live rock, this will provide much more biological stability from the beginning. Or at last 15 – 30% good quality live rock additional.

As much as I know korallenzucht does ship to turkey also so it should not be a problem. Alternatively our sponsor Sewatec would be another alternative.

I can not really help you with the equipment you have decided to use but here is a good read about skimmer types:

http://zeovit.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26875

A flow of ~ 30.000 – per hour should be adequate for your system size. I would go with two pumps as one of them fails the second one will move the water furthermore. A water exchange between the sump and the system of 800 – 1200 liters per hour should be fine. Keep in mind that the tubing will reduce the pumps output.

Also a two tube system reactor will be the best choice as it does prevent blocking smaller zeovit particles constant between the bottom plate on which the material is lying and the outer tube.

A sand bed of 3 – 5 cm works very well, less is not really a problem.

Once if corals are in the system you will also need to supplement Ca and KH, chemical supplements or a CaCO2 reactor works well.
