Hi Positron

First of all I would recommend to download the dosing guide from:

http://www.korallen-zucht.de/files/z..._english-1.pdf

It contains a lot of useful information and will be helpful to get a feeling for the dosage.

First start with the basics products to decrease nutrients:

1. Place 1.5 liter zeovit in a Zeo Reactor. Water flow around 600 liters per hour. Connect the reactor pump to a clock timer and run the reactor pump with a 3 hour on / 3 hour off / 3 hour on interval. Please make sure the zeolite is not exposed to air while the pump is switched off. Clean the material daily. Leave the zeolite 4 weeks in the filter until you do the first change out. This is the first changing interval, others could be lengthen to 6 – 8 weeks.

2. Place 0.6 liters activated carbon in a filter sock and keep it in a passive water flow in your sump, changed every 30 days. Knead the carbon daily to keep the surface clean. Most users get perfect results with korallenzucht carbon.

3. Dose 6 drops ZeoBac daily for the first 2 weeks, flowed by a 2 – 3 x weekly dosage of 6 drops. Dose 0.6 ml ZeoStart 2 x daily (morning & evening). Dose those in front of the Zeo reactor pump while it is switched on.

Later on you could use the additional products for coral coloration. Adjust your skimmer to skim wet, keeping it clean to export as much as possible. Do a weekly water change of 5 – 10 % with a good salt.

Basic water parameters looking good, try to keep them as stabile as possible close the NSW in the following ranges:

KH 6.5 – 7.5
Ca 400 – 420 mg
Mg 1250 – 1300 mg
K+ ~ 380 mg

For a nutrient poor environment K+ (potassium) seems to be a important element. I would recommend you to get a test kit for this element also, posting your results.

When you start with ZeoVit remove 50% of the pellets, than reduce their quantity slowly step by step to zero over the next 6 – 8 weeks.

This is a start-up dosage which might have to be adjusted later.

G.Alexander

Hello,

Thank you very much for your help. In my last ati lab the potassium value was 424 mg/l.
For the zeolit reactor, what do you think of the brand cleartide ?

Sorry I can not really give you a recommendation for the reactor as I have just used one brand. There are many good reactors outside but I recommend you a reactor with a second tube holding the zeovit material as this makes the cleaning process much easier. Maybe this forum is helpful for your decision:

If you like to you can dose 6 drops SpongePower additional every other day. It will have a positive impact to the biology.

Hello, some news.... after 20 days of zeovit my parameters are : no3 2.76, po4 0.06, alk 6.9 dkh salinity 36 ppt, mg 1420 mg/l, ca 454 mg/l, potassium 441 mg/l.
I stopped biopellet without problems. But I have more algae (green and cyano). The animals are in good health and they re growing faster. I think that I have too much po4 and no3. What can I do now? Thanks for your help.

Nutrients are a little bit elevated but usually for the corals those concentrations should not cause harm except the coloration.

Basic water parameters you have posted are all a elevated so please check if your salinity measuring instrument is accurate. Cross checking the salinity with a different accurate instrument might make sense.

Can you post a picture of the algae / cyanos and describe where they are growing (panels, sand, rocks etc) ?

You can try to treat the cyanos with a mixture of ZeoBac and CoralSnow (12ml Snow / 6 drops Bac) daily for 2 weeks, this might also support to decrease the hair algae. While doing this remove the cyanos regular vacuum the sand and the green hair algae with a brush. You can also add a couple of more herbivore like snails.

Can you please measure and post the ZeoVit reactor flow and tell if you run the reactor still with the 3 hour on / off interval ?

Hello and thank you for your advice. The flow of my reactor flow is 400 liters per hour. It runs 3 hours on-3 hours off.
Do I have to continue to add zeostart zeobac and zeosponge?
Merci

Reactor flow is a little bit low, should be ~ 600 liters per hour if you use 1.5 liters zeovit. Have you already done the first zeovit exchange, if yes how much time has passed since doing it ?

At the End of the weekend I would recommend you to do the first exchange. Replace 90% of the material and dose ZeoBac daily for 10 days after the exchange. If two additional weeks have passed and if the corals are all doing fine you can switch your reactor to continuous flow. After some time you can increase the reactor flow in two steps to the recommended 600 liters per hour.

This should help to slowly decrease nutrients.

The treat the cyanos dose a mixture of ZeoBac and coral snow as mention before. While doing the treatment no additional ZeoBac dosage is necessary.
