Joe: Thanks, I actually just got the elos kits in today so I have all I need for a while!.

Jlokani: I read on this board somewhere you can leave a few litres of the stones or so down in the sump for more bacterial popualtion so I'm trying it out. Hard to tell if it's working but things are going well so i would suspect so.

Sdiego: Yeah the bryopsis is terrible, but with the gallon of the tech m I used up keeping the mag around 15-1600 actually seemed to help it dwindle away.
Mines is 99% gone and I had it real bad.

Cpreefguy: I'd like to use the KZ brand CC for a substrate but if I remember correctly the CC that's in my tank is the carib sea. The CC looks good but it's main purpose is being served by not blowing around the tank.

Thanks! I will try it out as well. Where do you find KZ brand CC?

I emailed ZEOvit USA about this a few days ago and they told me it was, for some reason, illegal to import into the US...

Glad to hear that, cp, well rather, NOT that I am GLAD, as I think it's a perfect substrate and I would have LOVED to get my hands on it, but I too was told by two sources that it was NOT available in the US, and would NOT be in the future as well...

It sucks finding a good substrate here in the US. Mainly we have Carib Sea, which is an okay product at best (as long as you spend 3-4 weeks washing out the infinite amount of wood pieces that they manage to pack in there!). But not anything in the 2-4mm size range is offered by Carib Sea...

I ended up using Tropic Eden--very clean and uniform in size. I mixed the Crumbs (2mm) and the Flakes (3.5mm). The Tropic Eden is a WONDERFUL aragonite substrate. It kinda shocked me to see how uniform in size and CLEAN it was after working with the Carib Sea crap for too, too many years...!

The other day I noticed my tunze stopped working, so It took it apart and cleaned it and found it completely encrusted over in what looks like a calcium deposit. I also have started to notice my reactor and sump uncrusting in this white film that's very hard to remove. So after breaking down all pumps and cleaning they all worked way better and I am assuming they were about to seize soon also from the buildup. So what I found out what caused this as I looked at the back of the label of b-ionic and it says to never add more than 1 ml per gallon. Well I have been scrapin along at a steady 375 and 6 kh by dosing what a couple mo. ago was 150 ml and now has been raised to keep up with the demand to 225 ml of each daily. Hmmm so what do I do when the demand is so high the b ionic can't keep up?. I'm assuming I'd need a ca. rxtr?. I finaly got my big boy pants and bought a calcium reactor. I got the Aqua Euro eu-cr400 and I'm waiting for my reg. to come in the mail. I'm a little nervous about learning how to use it as I dont want to hurt anything but I'm actually more excited about the resulst I'm going to see once I get it stable and keep up the ca. and alk. demand. But Im curious also is it possible to do with the balling method that b ionic cant?. surpassing the 1ml per gallon daily max?

Question

Hopefully, someone using the Balling method can answer Ryan's question. TIA, Bob

So, Bob, I have it correctly that "Balling" is just Euro lingo for two part dosing...?

Actually, the true Balling method also uses Cl-free salt. Maybe Alexander can comment more on this technique developed by a German aquarist, Werner Balling. TM's Bio-Ca & Bio-Mag use the same technique, compensating for the Cl by using a Cl-free salt. Bob

Yeah if anyone knows that would be great I'm apprehensive in using the reactor because I'm interested in the use of a dosing pump which would be much easier for me to understand lol. Also a price comparison?. Rxtr vs. balling
