Default HELP WITH DOSING PLEASE!

Hello,
Need help getting my 6 month old tank tuned in.
I cant get that crystal clear water.
Please HELP!

1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter 650L
2. Net water volume: 500 Gallons
3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technique: Only avast marine Zeo reactor for zeolite, viberats once a day for 1 min, have 1.5 L of stones
4. Are you using a PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.) No
5. Are you using Ozone No
6. Are you using UV No
7. What skimmer are you using (type, rated water volume) Vertex Omega 200i
8. What are your actual PO4, .3 and NO3 .1
9. What are your actual Ca 420, Alk ,8 and Mg, 1400 levels
10. What filtration method do you use Filter floss, Poly fleece from walmart in filter sock plastic cups
11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.) Radio RX30 gen 4
Attached schedule
12. What corals do you keep - Mainly LPS with a few SPS up top
13. Tissue color (SPS dark, LPS look fine)
14. How long has the tank been running 6 months
15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system - TO have crystal clean water and Great coral.
16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.)Dosing ESV when needed
Sponge power 4 drops daily, Coral vitalizer 4 drops weekly, Phols special extra 4 drops per week, LPS amino 4 drops per week.
17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.) - 60-80lbs caribsea fake rock, 2 big blocks of marine pure in sump, all new from when I started the tank 6 months ago
18. Any present problems - cloudy water, need to clean glass 2-3 times a day, brown on sand.
19. Problem description,
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.) Red Sea
21. Present dosing, amounts and intervals ZeoStart 1.5ml per day, ZeoBak, 6 drops 2 times per week, Zeo food 6 drops 2 times per week. 4 drops of sponge power daily
22. Other water parameters and water stability (salinity,.25 temp, 77.8 )
23. Which salt brand do you use Red Sea blue bucket

I'd change two things: Remove the marine pure. Start using Coral Snow.

Marine Pure has been proved to leach unwanted metals into the water = Bad, Better that you replace it with more rock (in the sump)

Coral snow is great for clearing up the water, leaving behind that "crystal" look you seem to want. Dose it once or twice a week.

When you say "brown on sand" is it algae, or more like a bacterial film?

If you need to clean the glass 2-3 times per day? I suspect you're overdosing something.

1.5ml Zeostart sounds a bit like your cause. According to the bottle, 2ml per 1000L, which would be 1ml daily for your water volume. This could be causing a film on substrate, rocks and glass. You could also experience small "bubbles" on the rocks.

Thanks for the replies.
What kind of rock? I am all about QTing everything.
Caribsea dry rock? (The fake stuff?)
I was thinking of doing a 25 percent water change and starting with new Zeolit and carbon. The existing ZeoVit and carbon have been in for 4 weeks now. Would that help?

Also based on my what I have been doing, should I cut out all other products? Just stick with zeostart. Zeobak and zeofood?

Hi Daniel

Can you tell me which kind of zeolite you exactly use and when you have started to use the zeovit system on this tank ?

I'd avoid rock that will need to cycle, I don't know if Caribsea dry rock will leach phosphates? "Real Reef Rock" is an alternative I'd look into, they claim no cycle is needed. (and of course it doesn't bring any foul algae or pest) Don't know if it's available in your area though.

I'd say a dose of 10ml of coral snow would suffice, could go as high as 20ml, but it will take longer to clear.

I'd actually cut down on zeofood, and dose spongepower as you do instead. You could also try halving the dose of zeofood if you want to keep dosing it, and see if you see any difference.

Question

Thanks for the reply.
So it's the marine pure causing my issues?

Probably not, since I should be honest. Marinepure has been shown to leach Aluminium (and other metals) over time, that would show up on an ICP test. But other than it's not super-nice to have metals in your tank if you can't control it, and that some critters may take damage, I've seen no proof of it causing algae issues or bacterial blooms.
The advice was more general towards marinepure

As blackizzz said, it may be part of the reason. Do you use live rock? This makes the tank stable for a long time. Due to the 4 months plus the previous cumulative effect of the Zeo system, some may require the exact correct Zeo base usage. You need to start by reducing your nutrition.

I believe that there should be animals in the tank, 3 open 3 off to adapt to the first change of Zeo zeolite in the first month (Zeo Bac do 10 days a day), the coral health switch continuous flow every other week, Zeo activated carbon use, Skimmer adjust wet.. .more....

Ensure Ro water quality

You have mention that you use some kind of filter floss:

Quote:
Poly fleece from walmart in filter sock plastic cups
Can you tell something more about the material or post a picture ?

What about your corals, are they looking healthy and do they grow ?

I hope everyone can see the attachments.
2 are of my tank. Hard to see the green slime growing.
I have also attached a fish trap that was in my tank for 24 hours. How do I manage this green stuff?
