My new zeovit tank......Help me please.

1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter: 400 L (about)
2. Net water volume (incl. sump etc.) - US gallons / UK gallons / liter: 340 L (abouto
3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technique: balling
4. Are you using a PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.): no
5. Are you using Ozone: no
6. Are you using UV: no
7. What skimmer are you using (type, rated water volume): VERTEX 150
8. What are your actual PO4 and NO3 levels:
9. What are your actual Ca, Alk and Mg levels:
10. What filtration method do you use (refugium, DSB, Miracle Mud, etc.):
11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.): ATI 8*39
12. What corals do you keep
13. Tissue color (light or dark)
14. How long has the tank been running
15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system
16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.)
17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.) 30 kg. about
18. Any present problems
19. Problem description (tissue loss tips, tissue loss base, diatom bloom, algae, etc.)
20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.)
21. Present dosing, amounts and intervals (ZEOvit, ZEObak, ZEOfood, ZEOstart, ZEOspur2, etc.)
22. Other water parameters and water stability (salinity, temp, etc.)
23. Which salt brand do you use: korallen zucht

Good morning to all, soon I will leave with my new tank (size 110*60*60 cm) I hope to receive some of your precious advice
to not make mistakes.

Pending the delivery of the tank, I start to do the shopping for everything I need and here are the first doubts:

-SUBSTRATE: Which type to choose? Aragonite? There are different types of granulometry? 1-3mm and 3-5mm? It's correct? Which is preferable?
For my tank (internal size 107*57 cm) 6 packs 4.6Kg (about 27 Kg) are sufficient?

LIGHTING: For 8 lamp which combination to choose? I have preference for a bluer light, my idea was: 5 ATI blu +, 2 ATI coral + and 1 ATI acqua special, or 4 blu +, 2 coral +, 2 acqua special.

ZEOLITE: How to calculate the right amount of material to insert? I have to consider the net liters of the tank + sump? My tank should be 320 L net, the sump about 50 L net, total 370 L net, I have to consider this? So how much zeolite?

I apologize for the many questions and the bad English, I really hope in your help because I really want to create a nice tank

Sorry, repeat, I mean, don't use live sand.

jacky 08-09-2018 09:41 AM

Do not use live sand, and the thickness is good to maintain & cooperate with the maintenance of the creature.

One liter of zeolite corresponds to 400L of water. The zeolite barrel flow should not exceed 400L/Hr.

I have no experience with the light bulb combination, but I will try more white light.

I would recommend you to cycle the system as follows:

http://zeovit.com/forums/showpost.ph...60&postcount=7

All calculations are done based on the complete (sump & tank) net water volume of the system, in your case 340 liters.

A shallow sand bed with the depth of 3 – 5 cm of dry aragonite usually works very well. I recommend a grain size in the range of 2 – 4 mm.

I can not really give you a advise for ATI bulbs as I have not used them but basically if you like to get a “natural” coloration the spectrum should be balanced which means not to blue.

Good morning and thanks for the answers. Ok for using the ARAGONITE, what I can find has a particle size 3-5mm.
I will follow the guide very carefully, if I still have doubts I would disturb them or I will update the post with new developments.
Thanks again for your support.

The grain size is fine, do not add to much sand to get the sand bed to deep.

Good morning, waiting for the tank that arrives in a few days I'm organizing the program works and dosages for the initial phase. I ask your opinion first to avoid making mistakes. Considering my 350 liters:

-Day one dosage:
-17,5ml ZEOBACK;
-35ml ZEOSTART;
-10ml SPONGE POWER.

FIRST DOUBTS:the dosage of the 3 products must be done all at once? or better to separate in the day? Another question, can they be dosed at the same time or better to distance the dosages?
Thank you in advance for your support

G.Alexander 08-31-2018 11:22 PM

You can dose them all around the same time in front of a pump in the main tank. Give them a minute or two between the additions.

Thank you Alexander, are the quantities for my liters correct?
But for the zeolite there is not a way to calculate the quantity in grams? How much is the correct amount for my tank?

G.Alexander 09-02-2018 12:00 AM

Your calculation is correct, use 0.85 liters of ZeoVit with a constant water flow of ~ 340 liters per hour through the reactor

As the materials weight can differ (natural material) it can be difficult to use the weight for the calculation but do not worry, a little bit more or less does not cause issue.

Yesterday officially start the new adventure with zeovit, first cleaning aragonite with mesh in small holes, and then first wash with water RO.
I will continue to wash again in the next few days.

G.Alexander 09-11-2018 03:20 AM

I would recommend to soak it in RO water additional. After some hours check if you can detect PO4 in the RO water. If the result is ZERO you can add the material slowly to your tank.

Yes, yesterday I immersed in water RO, today I change all the water and after a few hours I do the first checks Po4.
As I still have a few days to collect the tank I will do this operation several times in order to clean the aragonite as much as possible.

Work continues, again washes with RO water were made for aragonite.
Yesterday I withdrew the first part of living rock, and today I will pick up the last one from another supplier.
Now as with the tank the supplier has had a bit of delay (complete work I just have to wait to dry the glue), I put the rocks in new salt water and I'll have to keep them for about 10-15 days is there any trick to keep the rocks in the best possible way? Obviously I have already set up a movement pump, can I do anything else? Dosage bacteria? Small weekly changes?
